The Ghana power grid project, which was completed in 2021, brought electricity to nearly half the West African country, transforming the lives of millions of rural residents.

Executed over nine years, this monumental effort by Hunan Construction Investment Group brought a stable supply of electric power to 771 villages across three provinces.

Cai Dianwei, chief executive of Hunan Construction Investment Group, outlined the extensive training provided to local workers during the project. The training covered all aspects of power grid installation, equipment commissioning and maintenance.

Cai also noted that the name "Hunan" has become widely recognized among local residents, with Hunan Construction Investment Group now seen as a symbol of "Chinese friendship" in the region.

Throughout the years of construction, all materials used – except for the poles – were sourced from Chinese companies. This significantly boosted the export of domestic electromechanical products.
