New effort to focus on vocational talent cultivation for China, Thailand

On Jan 27, 2024, the "Engineering College", a collaborative effort between Tianjin Bohai Vocational Technical College (TBVTC) in China and Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University (NSRU) in Thailand, was inaugurated, setting a new model on the route to vocational education cooperation.

The event was graced by the presence of Wang Junming, chairman of Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group Co, and Chairat Pranee, president of NSRU, who attended the unveiling ceremony.

Wei Bingju, secretary of the Party Committee of TBVTC, outlined the objectives of the Engineering College, stating that it seeks to establish a new platform for talent cultivation that promotes industrial upgrading in both countries; it is expected to nurture a cadre of high-caliber international technical talents, develop several high-level bilingual courses, and deeply enrich education resources.

The ceremony featured presentations of promotional videos showcasing NSRU and giving an introduction to its college of agriculture and technology and its college of industrial technology.

Additionally, TBVTC and NSRU signed a memorandum of understanding on their joint construction project.

Reports indicate that the Engineering College is undergoing a fundamental shift in its training approach, with a focus on reform. It is instituting a novel mechanism for joint enrollment and training, fostering an environment conducive to the exchange of teaching staff, course integration, platform consolidation, and facilitating smoother channels of communication.

The initial phase of construction will include the introduction of a major in new energy vehicles.
