Chinese EPIP teaching model to take root in Thailand

Chairat Pranee, president of Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University (NSRU) in Thailand, recently visited Tianjin, China, with a nine-member delegation.

He witnessed the NSRU organizing the China-Thailand Engineering Practice Innovation Project (EPIP) with the Tianjin University of Technology and Education (TUTE) and the Tianjin Vocational College of Mechanics and Electricity (TVCME).

According to the consultation results and the tripartite cooperation framework agreement, the three schools will establish an excellent engineer college and an engineer college based on the exploration of the EPIP project, in a bid to boost educational cooperation at professional master's and vocational undergraduate levels.

At the activity, Jarun Youbrum, winner of the Chinese Government Friendship Award and one of the founders of the world's first Luban Workshop - theThailand Luban Workshop - made a report on the application practices of the EPIP teaching model.

He then received a letter of appointment of the chief expert of the certification test center.

The center is the third of its kind established overseas, after those built in Ethiopia and Portugal. It is expected to provide professional EPIP certification to Thailand and share China's teaching model and results.

NSRU is a national public university directly under the Higher Education Commission of the Ministry of Education of Thailand. It has six faculties, namely, Education, Management, Science and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences, Industrial Technology, and Agricultural Technology, and carries out professional degree education at undergraduate, master and doctoral levels.

During his trip, Chairat also participated in the opening ceremony of the week-long labor education practice activity of the TUTE, and went to the graduation design exhibition of the School of Art of the TUTE.

In addition, he visited the engineering practice innovation center, the smart vocational education innovation platform, and the Luban Workshop International Development Research Center at the TUTE.
