On the occasion of China's Vocational Education Week, Tianjin University of Technology and Education (TUTE) and Tianjin Vocational College of Mechanics and Electricity (TVCME) jointly hosted activities to promote the China-Portugal Engineering Practice Innovation Project (EPIP) from May 15 to 16.

Angela Lemos, president of Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, Portugal, led a delegation to Tianjin.
During her field trip, she unveiled the Portuguese Automation and Artificial Intelligence EPIP Certification Test Center together with Zhang Jingang, Party secretary of TUTE, Lyu Jingquan, vice president of TUTE, and Zhang Weijin, president of TVCME.
Jose Pedro Magalhaes Lucas, professor of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, was the chief expert of the certification test center.

The center is the second of its kind established overseas after the "East African Vocational Teacher Training EPIP Certification Test Center" in Ethiopia. It is expected to provide professional EPIP certification to European countries and share China’s teaching model and results.
The three schools also established the "Excellent Engineer College" to explore professional master's program and vocational undergraduate program based on the EPIP.

Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal is a noted Portuguese technical university. In 2018, TVCME cooperated with the school to build the Luban Workshop with an EPIP Teaching and Research Center in Portugal. It has trained about 500 students and has supplied technical talents to about 100 European companies. Also, there emerged a group of EPIP research and application experts represented by Professor Jose Lucas.
