Egypt Luban Workshop to promote "three plus two" education model

On Jan 12, the Egypt Luban Workshop at the Advanced Technical School for Maintenance Technology in Cairo (CATSMT) held an online conference on the progress of its "three plus two" education model.

Named after Lu Ban (507-444 BC), who is regarded as the father of carpentry in China, the workshop program aims to train technical professionals worldwide.

In his speech, Ahmad Ibrahim, president of the CATSMT, voice his appreciation for the efforts made by the Chinese side in the building of the Luban Workshop. He said that through the joint efforts of both sides, the Egypt Luban Workshop has achieved fruitful results and solved many problems in its development, adding that Egypt is willing to further deepen bilateral cooperation and exchanges and open new frontiers in bilateral collaboration in the future.

Mohamed Ahmed Ali Baioumy, a teacher at the CATSMT, introduced that the Egyptian Ministry of Education has brought into its national education system the "three plus two" education model of the Egypt Luban Workshop program, and also outlined the specific requirements for admission, curricular building and talent cultivation.

Zhao Hui, a teacher from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Tianjin Light Industry Vocational Technical College, gave an introduction to the two-year talent cultivation plan and curriculum for computer numerical control machines in the Egypt Luban Workshop program.

Li Jiaze, a teacher in the major of vehicle maintenance at Tianjin Transportation Technical College (TTTC), talked about the two-year talent cultivation plan and curriculum for vehicle maintenance in the Egypt Luban Workshop program.

Xie Jianwu, head of university and enterprise cooperation center at the TTTC, briefed attendees on the development of China's leading EV maker BYD in Egypt and its demand for relevant talents.

Attendees from the two countries held exchanges over such topics as study approaches, managerial methods and graduation assessment in the internship program of the "three plus two" education model.

Two student representatives also shared their study experiences and feelings.

Dai Yuwei, Party secretary of Tianjin Light Industry Vocational Technical College, sent to the Egyptian side CDs about Chinese culture and Chinese language teaching materials on behalf of two Chinese universities at the virtual ceremony.
