The Indian Luban Workshop at the Chennai Institute of Technology has become a shining example of cooperation between China and India, the two most populous countries in the world, on vocational education.

There are six classrooms imbued with Chinese elements in the Indian Luban Workshop.

Thanks to the implementation of the Luban Workshop project, 15 teachers and nearly 200 students from the Chennai Institute of Technology have been to Tianjin, where the program was born, for vocational training since 2017.

Attending teachers have imparted their learning in China to Indian students and done their utmost to independently design courses about newly emerging technologies upon their return. Meanwhile, many Indian student trainees have benefited from their Chinese-study tours and found ideal work.

Shriram, president of the Chennai Institute of Technology, said that the Indian Luban Workshop has provided 1,000 students with vocational education and accelerated the transformation of academic studies into concrete skills among them over the past five years.

Trainees from the Indian Luban Workshop have been in high demand in the labor market.

Many local industrial chambers have entrusted the Indian Luban Workshop to conduct technical training for their clients.

Shriram said that the Chennai Institute of Technology is looking forward to further strengthening cooperation with Chinese universities on vocational education.
