The Hunan Sany Industrial Vocational & Technical College (HSIVTC) in China and the Genovasi University College (GUC) in Malaysia recently signed an agreement to build a training base for international engineering talents.

According to the virtual conference, GUC, a member of the Global Design Thinking Alliance (GDTA), will be responsible for applying for local government's approval, formulating training guideline and syllabus and deploying teaching places. Meanwhile, HSIVTC is expected to provide faculty and training facilities.

The two universities agreed to promote reciprocal visits between their teachers. They also planned mutual recognition of academic credits and successive study programs from junior college-level education to graduate-level education.

The cooperative education program is scheduled to enroll 30 Malaysian students majoring in engineering and machinery technologies this year. It will also be gradually accessible to applicants from other countries and regions involved with the Belt and Road Initiative.

Dato Seri Richard Leo, the Malaysian prime minister's special envoy to East Asia, congratulated the two universities. Noting that education is crucial to eliminating poverty, promoting economic growth and improving the well-being of the people, he called on two countries to further enhance their cooperation on vocational education.
