An online ceremony launching the Ethiopian EPIP Teaching and Research Center was held on April 28. It also marked the opening of a China-Africa (Ethiopia) friendship contest for industrial robot technology as well as the first anniversary of the founding of the Ethiopian Luban Workshop.

The special teaching model of EPIP, which uses engineering, practice, innovation and projects to integrate theory with practice, aims to bring students into real life in a move to nurture and develop their professional capabilities and innovative skills.

During the past year, the Tianjin University of Technology and Education and Ethiopian Technical University have conducted in-depth cooperation on the teaching model.

They have thus enriched the Luban Workshop program, and built the Ethiopian Luban Workshop into a leading project under the China-sponsored vocational education initiative on the African continent. 

An exhibition is set to showcase award-winning products in the friendship contest and review the achievements made by the Ethiopian Luban Workshop since its inauguration.

In addition, the two universities plan to utilize industrial robots and to use online class to hold vocational contests between China and Ethiopia.
