The opening ceremony of South Africa Luban Workshop was held at South Africa's Durban University of Technology, on Dec 16, 2019.

The event attendees are Fei Mingxing, consul general of China's Consulate General in Durban, Kwazi Mshengu, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Education, Professor Bai Haili, deputy director of Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, Professor TZ Mthembu, vice-chancellor and principal of Durban University of Technology, Professor Liu Bin, president of Tianjin Vocational Institute, and more than 200 teachers and students from the two universities.

South Africa Luban Workshop's education system is developed on the basis of China's achievements of the construction of National Modern Vocational Education Reform and Innovation Demonstration Zone in Tianjin city. The South Africa Luban Workshop abides by the international professional teaching standards, adopts the teaching model of Engineering Practice Innovation Project (EPIP), and has been equipped with advanced equipment.

The workshop has built two professional training labs of Internet of Things application technology and additive manufacturing technology. The course of Internet of Things includes six parts of content including professional development and course design; and the course of additive manufacturing technology covers four parts of content, including data collection and innovative design. 

The courses are tailored and designed in accordance with the educational characteristics and existing conditions of South Africa, which could meet the talent training requirements of Durban University of Technology and also take local industrial demands and talent development into full consideration.
