The students at Cambodian Vocational Education and Training Center, situated at Phnom Penh, Cambodia were looking forward to the return of their Chinese teacher Zhang Long, a young teacher of Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Sciences, during Spring Festival.

Designed and built by Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Sciences, this training center is the largest cooperative vocational education project between China and Cambodia. Located in the National Institute of Technology of Cambodia, also known as the Cambodian Luban Workshop, it is a representative national demonstration zone set up by Tianjin in the field of modern vocational education reform and international cooperation.

The center has also been built by absorbing international elements. Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Sciences, which is responsible for aiding construction, is the largest intergovernmental vocational cooperation project between China and Germany. It has introduced the concept and model of Germany's world-famous "dual system" vocational education, under which students on the one hand learn in vocational schools whose main function is to impart professional knowledge related to occupations; on the other hand, they experience off-campus training such as in enterprises or public institutions.

Zhang Xinghui, secretary of the party committee of the school, said that applied technology university of vocational education plays an important role in international cooperation under the background of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Standing in front of a few tons of CNC machine tools, Zhang Long teaches and explains in detail in the hot room. His mechanical processing technology training center is one of the three training centers, including machining training area, CNC machining (CNC lathe, machining center) training area and CNC programming area, with first class equipment."

All the equipments were handled, installed and commissioned by Zhang Long and other teachers. "The heaviest single equipment is 8.7 tons". Due to the lack of suitable shipping equipment in the local area, many Chinese teachers moved and assembled by their manpower under high temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius.

With the help of Han Jian, Chinese professional teacher in communication technology, the Cambodian National Polytechnic Institute was first connected to the 4G campus network. This excited the local students. "Professor Han brought the best equipment, opening a window for me to see a bigger world."

His class is highly welcomed on campus, students communicate freely in English. Many teachers of relevant majors of the National Polytechnic of Cambodia bring students to attend classes. Even some engineers of telecommunications companies come to learn advanced technology.
