Tianjin Dongjiang Comprehensive Bonded Zone is located in the northeast part of Tianjin Port. It is a peninsula formed by land reclamation, surrounded by sea on three sides, with a planned and managed area of 31.9 square kilometers (including a customs special supervision area of 10 square kilometers) and a coastline of 28 kilometers. In August 2006, the State Council approved the establishment of Dongjiang Bonded Port Zone. In April 2015, the entire area was incorporated into the Tianjin Pilot Free Trade Zone. In 2020, the State Council approved the upgrade of Dongjiang to a comprehensive bonded zone, and it has been recognized as a national "Double A" comprehensive bonded zone in the customs assessment for two consecutive years. As of the end of 2022, there were 18,000 existing enterprises in Dongjiang, with a registered capital of 1.6 trillion yuan. It has formed three major advantageous sectors: financial leasing, port economy (trade, shipping services, supply chain finance), and platform economy, making it the second-largest aircraft leasing hub in the world.

Dongjiang also boasts numerous tourism and cultural resources. Tianjin International Cruise Home Port, located on the southern coastline, is the largest cruise home port in northern China. The largest artificial beach in northern China attracts many sailing and beach sports enthusiasts. The multifunctional Dongjiangpinhai Park has become a popular spot for visitors to enjoy and get close to the sea. Dongjiang International Art Center provides services for artists' accommodation, creation, and exchange, meeting the spiritual needs of cultural and artistic appreciation and communication. The pleasant natural and cultural environment of Dongjiang attracts a large number of tourists. Supporting facilities such as talent apartments, schools offering nine-year consistent education, imported goods supermarkets, and financial centers are also being improved. There is one community neighborhood committee in the port area, which has been designated as a municipal-level healthy community and a district-level civilized community. It manages five residential neighborhoods with a population of approximately 4,000 residents.
