Zhongtang Town is located in the southern area of Binhai New Area. It is bordered by Dagang Subdistrict to the east, Jinghai District and Xiaowangzhuang Town to the west, Tianjin Petrochemical Base to the south, and Jinnan and Xiqing Districts to the north. It is 32 kilometers away from downtown Tianjin, 31 kilometers from the core area of Binhai New Area, and 30 kilometers from Tianjin Binhai International Airport. It is also 110 kilometers away from Xiong'an New Area.

The town covers an area of 93 square kilometers and administers 24 villages and 10 residential communities. The current population is 72,000, including 47,000 registered residents. There are two middle schools, five primary schools, two public kindergartens, and two clinics in the area.

Within the town, there are 54 main watercourses surrounding the Beidagang Reservoir and Beidagang Wetland. It is in close proximity to the Dagang Ecological Higher Education Zone, and the Nangang, Ligang, and Huangwan railways run through the entire area. Several highways, including the Changchun-Shenzhen and Rongcheng-Wuhai Expressways, form a well-connected transportation network.

1. Economic

Zhongtang has developed an industrial cluster represented by automotive components, new metal materials, and electronic and electromechanical industries. It has become the largest research and development and production base for automotive rubber hoses in the country. It stands as the city's exclusive economic powerhouse, seamlessly blending the essence of a Chinese characteristic town and serving as a trailblazing model for administrative management system reform in economically developed towns.

2. Industrial Development 

Zhongtang has two municipal-level industrial parks with a total area of 19.1 square kilometers. The parks accommodate 685 enterprises, including listed companies and leading enterprises. It has fostered 115 national high-tech enterprises and 65 technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises. The key industries for development are automotive components, bicycles, and new metal materials.

3. Agricultural Development

The main agricultural crops in Zhongtang are corn, rice, and sorghum. It focuses on livestock farming, including sheep breeding, cattle farming, poultry farming, and greenhouse vegetable cultivation, aiming to create a modern agricultural landscape. Aoqun Sheep Farm is currently the largest breeding base for Dubo and Australian white sheep in the country, and Tengyuan Livestock Farm has become the largest meat sheep farming base in North China. Shenchi Agriculture and Animal Husbandry actively explores mechanized treatment of animal waste and has been recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture as a "Standardized Dairy Demonstration Base" and a "Student Milk Source Demonstration Base." The edible mushroom industry park has become the largest and most modern Tea Tree Mushroom production base in North China. So far, the town has a total of 36 large-scale breeding farms and 82 well-performing cooperatives, including one national-level cooperative and four municipal-level cooperatives.

4. New Urbanization Construction

Zhongtang Demonstration Town is one of the fourth batch of pilot projects for demonstration small towns approved by the Tianjin Municipal Government. Currently, the construction of resettlement housing has been completed with an area of 540,000 square meters, and some villages have completed relocation and allocation work. The current focus is on the rational planning of the spatial layout of the town, with an emphasis on improving the quality of the urban area, promoting integrated development of industry and city, and advancing rural revitalization.
