Tianjin has unveiled China’s first solar-powered and intelligent networked vehicle, Tianjin, a pioneering move that echoes the metropolis’s commitment to reducing its carbon emissions and its innovation-driven high-quality development.
The vehicle weighs 1,020kg and has three seats. It can travel a distance of 74.8km on one charge, and has a maximum speed of 79.2km/h. The automatic driving level is above L4.
The solar module area of the car totals 8.1 square meters, serving as the vehicle’s only power source, and is capable of reducing carbon emissions by 25 kilograms per 100 kilometers.
Boasting 47 cutting edge pieces of technology and products, the intelligent vehicle integrates efforts from 42 enterprises and three universities, such as the IAT Automobile Technology Company, the Tianjin Lishen Battery Joint-Stock Company and Nankai University.
Taking only five months, the car also displays the efficient cooperation of multi-disciplinary and inter-industry players in achieving cross-integration innovation.
