Cooperation to promote marine ecology

Print PrintThe China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Administrative Committee and the National Ocean Technology Center (NOTC) on April 18 signed a cooperation agreement to promote the development of the marine industry.
The two parties pledged to work toward the construction of marine ecological civilization, the transformation and application of marine scientific research results, and to boost the blue economy while working to protect the ocean.
The NOTC will provide technological support to empower the high-quality development of the industry.
The China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City features the ecology environment. After the signing, the Eco-City will further support the NOTC to carry out researches and provide it with a platform to conduct scientific research. The two sides will also jointly hold various marine scientific and technological exchange activities and exhibitions.
Tianjin at present is implementing the country's strategic plan to accelerate the building of a modern, high-level marine city. The city's 153-kilometer coastline is located in Binhai New Area, of which 60 kilometers are in the Eco-city. In recent years, the Eco-City has actively promoted the restoration of marine ecosystems and the environmental protection of marine to build a green coastal ecology.
The NOTC is a public institute under the Ministry of Natural Resources. Its main functions are: to take management for national ocean technology; and offer technical guarantees and support for national oceanic plan, administration, capability construction and public service. It is also responsible for the research and development of new ocean technology in China. It has a high quality team of technical people, and it is equipped with high-standard laboratories.
Through the agreement, the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Administrative Committee and the NOTC have established a closer relationship, to improve marine governance, and cultivate new impetus in the marine economy.
