An agricultural products fair in Tianjin has brought together 38 enterprises from the surrounding metropolitan area to get a taste of the region's diverse produce.
More than 200 types of agricultural goods were displayed across 40 stalls on Saturday, ranging from grain crops and cash crops to fruit and vegetables.
"We presented high-quality agricultural products to the public to promote regional branding, expand sales channels, and deepen cross-regional coordination," said Li Jie, chief agronomist at the Tianjin Agriculture and Rural Affairs Commission.
Corn and peaches from Tianjin's Wuqing district, millet and chestnuts from Jizhou, and grapes from Jinghai were on sale at the fair, alongside pigeon from Hebei and flour from Beijing.
Many exhibitors live-streamed from their stalls. Hao Jiawen from Frisian (Tianjin) Dairy Foods Co said the company integrated live-streaming with offline sales for the first time at the event. "We brought three popular products, and many visitors purchased after tasting," Hao said. "We also launched live sales at our stall, attracting more than 200 viewers in under an hour."
On the same day, Tianjin unveiled its first metro train themed around local agricultural specialties, featuring products like Xiaozhan rice and Shawo radish.
The fair is one of 12 lead-up events to the 22nd China International Agricultural Trade Fair, due in Tianjin from Oct 17 to 19, which is expected to host around 3,000 exhibitors.
