The National Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin, host of the 2025 World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos, is operating entirely on renewable electricity, a first for the global forum, officials said on Sunday.

"Sustainability is really at the core of our events," said Severin Podolak, head of event management and operations for the World Economic Forum, in an on-site briefing. "Every element here, from construction to energy use, follows that principle."

His assertion was underscored by State Grid Tianjin's announcement that the forum secured 800,000 kWh of green electricity through local renewable energy certificates, eliminating 600 metric tons of carbon emissions.

Podolak continued, detailing how the physical space embodies this vision: "Most materials you see will be reused in future editions. We've even established dedicated storage in Tianjin."
