Tianjin Institute of Software Engineering plays a pivotal role in nurturing top-tier software talent and fostering deep integration between education and industry. It has developed a comprehensive talent development model that merges the education, talent, industry, and innovation chains, forging a new paradigm of collaborative training involving government, industry, academia, research, and application.
The college, founded in 2008 and officially opened in 2010, was established with the approval of the municipal Party committee and municipal government and administered by the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission.
Harnessing the strength of 79 universities and over 150 enterprises, the college has been designated several municipal and national-level training bases. With over 7,000 students enrolled annually and more than 10,000 training participants each year, it plays an important role in supporting the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Bridging the gap between education and employment
Through strong partnerships with leading enterprises such as 360, Kylin Software, and the National Supercomputing Center in Tianjin, the college has established a range of platforms including a national engineering education center, innovation hubs, and municipal-level industrial colleges.
Through 140 jointly established laboratories with industry partners, the college offers comprehensive internship, training, and employment services to over 100,000 students, effectively bridging the 'last mile' in talent development."
Driving innovation through technological transformation
The college actively promotes innovation by establishing incubator spaces such as the "Tianjin Software Engineering Innovation Cube," which supports collaborative R&D and project acceleration between academia and enterprises.
Currently, the college hosts 34 incubated enterprises, over half of which are national high-tech companies. Each year, more than 200 students participate in hands-on innovation projects, contributing to the commercialization of research outcomes.
Empowering regional development through entrepreneurship
Leveraging its innovation and entrepreneurship model, the college has successfully incubated more than 330 startups, including prominent names like Tianjin Taifan Technology Co and Boya-Triz. It has also attracted key industrial projects such as China Automotive Data to Tianjin, further integrating with and supporting regional economic development.
These ventures collectively generate an annual output value of approximately 1.4 billion yuan (194.2 million) and have produced more than 1,000 intellectual property achievements.
Tianjin Institute of Software Engineering continues to serve as a powerful engine for regional innovation and talent cultivation, reinforcing its mission to align education with the evolving needs of the software industry and to build a sustainable ecosystem for future digital development.
