In 2024, Tianjin Rail Transit Group Co expanded into overseas markets by taking part in Astana's first light rail project under the Belt and Road framework. At the start of this year, the group secured another contract to provide training and consulting services for the operation personnel of the Astana Light Rail.
This training session includes 29 trainees and consists of 120 lessons, covering three key areas: safety training, general knowledge training, and theoretical instruction. The training team provides comprehensive lectures on fundamental topics such as rail transit routes, power supply, communications, signaling, traffic organization, and light rail vehicle systems.

"The trainees in Astana are highly enthusiastic and proactive in learning," said training instructor Liu Jian.
"To enhance engagement, we have introduced interactive sessions such as 'Safety Hazard Spot-the-Difference', 'Quick Response to Traffic Commands', and 'Emergency Scenario Role-Playing'. These methods transform half of the theoretical coursework into immersive experiences, achieving a 70 percent classroom interaction rate and significantly improving training outcomes."

To facilitate effective learning, the training team has compiled a bilingual Chinese-Russian "Train Driver Training Manual," providing trainees with essential professional knowledge for light rail operation.
"The Chinese instructors' in-depth, analytical teaching approach has given us a solid grasp of train driving principles," said Anafin Huati Selikovich, one of the trainees.
"I am confident that I will soon master the skills needed to become an excellent driver, making my family proud."
The Astana Light Rail Project represents the first urban light rail system in Central Asia and the region's first rail transit project constructed with complete Chinese standards and equipment. Upholding the principles of joint consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, Tianjin Rail Transit Group not only delivers a turnkey project but also cultivates local talent through mentorship and hands-on training.

In April, Tianjin Rail Transit Group will dispatch a second-phase training team and an equipment consulting team to Astana. The group will continue to deepen cooperation with Astana's Light Rail Company, fostering more collaborative projects and achieving fruitful results.
