A publicity campaign to spread knowledge of COVID-19 vaccines has continued in Tianjin since it began in late April, and the city continues to vaccinate people 60 and older — some of them considerably older.

Several residents above the age of 100 received their first jabs at home.

Sun Yufen, 104, who lives in the Yuejiangli community in Hexi district, received her first shot from a doctor at home on April 27. She expressed her gratitude to the medical practitioners and social worker who participated.

She also praised the local community workers who have paid careful attention to her health and arranged home services.

On Ruijing street in Beichen district, community workers explained the risks brought by the COVID-19 virus to families with senior members.

Liu Yuguang, 101, and his wife, Xu Wenxiu, 96, live on Ruijing street and received their first COVID-19 shots on Saturday.

Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone announced that all the residents between 60 and 69 have been vaccinated and said its current initiative is to encourage all the residents above age 70 to to be inoculated.

Wu Ding, 92, who lives in the zone, recently received his first COVID-19 vaccine. Because of his health condition, a medical team consisting of a social worker, a volunteer, a police officer and a medical practitioner visited Wu in late April and gave him a checkup at home before the vaccination.
